After 2 1/2 hours of walking on a private property in NSW, this hunter came across a mob of 25 – 30 wild goats. Clad in camo from head to toe, we get a good run through of his gear before hunting.

Instead of getting hasty, he chose to take his time and ended up killing a young female goat using his new Tikka T3 Lite Stainless .308 rifle. Considering the range, it was a bit of overkill but at least he managed to miss the goat’s gut. The impact of the Tikka rifle is a big and messy exit wound; it gutted the goat pretty well and made the hunter’s job a lot easier.

He deliberately chose a small goat that he can easily carry. He places the dead goat on the grass and points to its exit wound. He drove to his cabin in the woods where he hanged the animal. Nice camp setup, by the way. It’s located near a pool of water, which is also a big plus.

It’s a bit disappointing that he didn’t show us how he gutted and dressed it; the camera only showed the cleaned-up carcass. He used three kinds of knives to do the job; again, it would have been better if he showed us how they were used. He managed to save most of the meat, so kudos to him. He didn’t waste the goat, unlike some hunters. Also, he did a great job of disposing the parts; they dug a ditch where they threw out the animal’s remains.

Overall, it was a good enough video. He should get someone to take the video next time so he can concentrate on his thing. It’s quite obvious that he struggled to film and shoot at the same time.
